Nexus 4 available for preorder from Digi for RM1499

ScreenShot002

Digi is now offering the lusted newest Nexus device by LG for as low as RM1499. It is available for preorder now and it is only available in one plan which is the DG Smart Plan 88 for monthly commitment of RM63 for 24 months. With that, you will get 8GB of data and for calls and SMSs, it will be charged per use. Digi is only offering one plan for the device because there will be no competition from other telco as the Nexus 4 will be available exclusively to Digi only. For the meantime. We might see it coming to other telcos in the future. But currently, Digi will have all the power to do whatever they wanted but still people will buy from them. =)

But despite the monopoly of the device, we still think that it is a rather good offer with 8GB of data. If you register for auto billing, you will be getting additional RM5 rebate for the first 6 months.

Nexus 4 is a highly anticipated Android device with 1.5GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, 4.7″ IPS display that does 1280×720 pixels resolution with Gorilla Glass 2, 8MP camera capable of 1080p videos, a front facing 1.3MP camera that does 720p and comes with the updated/latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. With Nexus devices, you can expect to be first to get all the OS updates as soon as it is available. Thats the cool part of getting a Nexus! So will you Nexus, S or One?

*If you are eligible for the Rm200 smartphone rebate, this will only cost you RM1299. Think about that!

Maxis introduces new cheaper iValue Simple iPhone 5 Plan

ScreenShot1

Maxis just recently announces another plan to join the iValue plans for iPhone 5 coming this Friday. This plan will be targeted to the more budget tight market. The plan just requires monthly commitment of RM50 for a 12 months contract and you will get a small subsidy for your iPhone 5.

Phone 5 16GB – RM2,079
iPhone 5 32GB – RM2,339
iPhone 5 64GB – RM2,699
iPhone 4S 16GB – RM1,769
iPhone 4 8GB – RM1,239

The plan gives you 200mins to all operators, 100SMS to Maxis and 1GB data. It looks like a good solution for those who wanted to take Maxis line but doesnt want to pay RM100 or more a month. But if you take a closer look, after some calculation, it is not really worth it. [Click on the image for a closer look on the plan]

Here is why:

iValue 1:

1 year: RM1200 commitment + RM1699 iPhone price = RM2899

iValue Simple:

1 year: RM600 commitment + RM2079 iPhone price = RM2679

The iValue 1 is just RM220 more expensive than iValue Simple which is around RM18 extra/month. With that, you will get more calls, SMS, and data. I think the iValue Simple is just not that simple after all. If you really want to get a cheaper monthly commitment plan, go for Digi’s iDigi 88 plan. That is a better choice. But you have to sacrifice internet speed and coverage for that. SO the choice is yours!

ScreenShot

Celcom has revealed the plan for iPhone 5 to those who registered their interest on iPhone 5 with Celcom. So I who registered myself got an email from Celcom with the plan like above. Celcom is doing it the unconventional way without any tailored made iPhone plans like they do previously and like how Digi and Maxis still does. But instead, they offer iPhone 5 with a subsidized price when you sign 12 months and 24 months contract of the bundled Celcom First Plan + Mobile internet.

The plan is like the image above, please click on the image for a larger clearer look.

So basically, you can choose between 4 choices of plans which includes:

Celcom First Prime (RM40) + 1.05GB free data + Mobile internet 3GB (RM58) = RM98/month
Celcom First Prime (RM40) + 1.05GB free data + Mobile Internet 5GB (RM88) = RM128/month
Celcom First Premier (RM80) + 1.1GB free data + Mobile Internet 5GB (RM88) = RM168/month

Digi to offer Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 soon!

ScreenShot

Digi will be among the first to offer the new Windows Phone from Nokia which are the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820. Both these devices runs Windows Phone 8 which is a very promising mobile OS but only time will tell how successful it will become. The Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are targeted to compete with the likes of HTC’s flagship Windows Phone, the Windows Phone 8X and the Samsung’s Samsung Ativ. It will be a wild competition for Windows Phone devices soon but as usual, the hype for Windows Phone devices are always more quiet than other Android devices or iPhone. The reason to that will remain a mystery. Maybe it is because the market for Windows Phone is smaller comparatively so they did not put so much into marketing. Sigh.

Anyway, the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 will be coming soon to please you. In our opinion, both are great phones with the 920 being the flagship and 820 more like a sidekick. But we think 820 is the better looking one here. But flagship Lumia 920 comes with 4.5″ PureMotion HD+ display that pushes 1280×768 pixels resolution, dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 processor, 1GB of RAM and a generous 32GB of storage. One of its key highlight is the 8.7MP PureView Camera which comes with floating lens image stabiliser. Meanwhile, the smaller Lumia 820 is a mid-spec device with a 4.3″ display that pushes 800×480 pixels, dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage which is expandable with microSD.
