Next Generation iPhone will be released on Sept/Oct 2012 [Rumor]

A Japanese site Macotakara reported that a “reliable source” claims that Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone will be released in either September or October of this year.

Apple always have at least 1-year before announcing a new product of the same category each year except for last year with the iPhone 4S where it was announced only after 1 year and 3 months after iPhone 4. So a September or October release for the next iPhone is very possible.

But we cannot really predict the release date of the iPhone because Apple have once broken the rules with the iPhone 4S release.

BGR reported last December that Apple was set to release a “completely redesigned” iPhone in the fall of 2012. Other sources, including iMore’s recent report that pegged the upcoming iPad 3 announcement, have also suggested an iPhone announcement during the same timeframe.

We are sure it will be a different device in terms of both design and internal hardwares including the software but we have no idea how will it look like. But we will be very happy to have something like the concept picture above.

Malaysian iPhone 4S Plans Comparison: Which is the Cheapest?

HOORAY!!!!

Tomorrow is the big day for all the iPhone lovers in Malaysia. Its the official launch of iPhone 4S in Malaysia by all the 3 telcos in Malaysia namely Maxis, Digi and Celcom. The plans are out from the telcos few days ago and we did a very simple and detailed table of comparison of all the plans available from Maxis, Digi and Celcom.

The table includes all the information needed about the plans and also the total ownership cost you will need to pay if you sign up for the particular plan.

Have a look at the table below: (click on image for a larger view)

Considering the total cost of ownership, we can see that Digi have the cheapest plans compared to Maxis and Celcom. But it is all down to personal preferance to decide with plan is best for you. And of course, these is solely based on the plans and the cost of the plans. Please do take the network, services etc into consideration before deciding which plan is the best for you!

One more thing is that Maxis is still selling the iPhone 4 in a very lucrative price where we do not see any plans regarding the iPhone 4 from Digi or Celcom.

The iPhone 4 plans from Maxis looks like this!

Do consider buying the iPhone 4 if you are tight on budget! The iPhone 4 is still an awesome phone!

Are you one of the proud soon to be iPhone 4S owner?
Which telco will you get your iPhone 4S from?

iPhone 4S plans from Maxis Revealed!

Many people is waiting for the iPhone 4S plans from Maxis and the plans are finally revealed. I do not see much difference between the iPhone 4S and the previous iPhone 4 plans.

The cheapest plan available from Maxis is the iValue 1 with monthly commitment of RM100 per month. The iPhone 4S price vary with the type of plans chosen and also the length of contract signed. It comes with bundled talktime of 333 minutes, 200 sms, 20 mms and 1GB of data. Usage of data exceeding 1GB will be charged accordingly instead of a speed throttle.

iPhone 4 is also available from Maxis with a renewed plan which cost only RM1050 with iValue 1 in 24months contract.

Here is the plan!

From these plans, we can see that Maxis is subsidizing the price of the iPhone 4S. The more expensive is the plan selected, the more you get subsidized for your iPhone 4S. In the other hand, Digi is subsidizing the monthly payment instead of the iPhone 4S price [click here]. For Digi plans, all iPhones will be subsidized RM200 but you will be paying a cheaper monthly payment compared to Maxis. So which type of plans do you prefer?

Head over here for more info on the Maxis iPhone 4S plans!

Once the iPhone 4S plans are out from the blue side (Celcom), we will compile and make a comparison on the iPhone 4S plans between the reds, yellows and blues!

Which telco will you buy your iPhone from? Or you will just get it from the Apple Online Store Malaysia?? Give us some feedback!

Samsung Galaxy Note [Quick Review]

Recently, I get to put my hands on the new big toy from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Note. This is a huge device with a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED HD screen which makes this device a one of a kind device closing the gap between phones and tablets. And the attempt from Samsung to bring back the stylus or in this case, it is called the S-pen, is very good and fresh. After the announcement of iPhone a few years back, the stylus is generally dead until now!

So after playing with the Galaxy Note for awhile, I would like to write a quick review on the device. And by quick, i mean real quick! =)

Screen. The Note’s screen is one of the best screen in the market today. With the size of 5.3 inches, the screen resolution is 1280×800 pixels which gives around 285ppi (pixel per inch). From what i know, the pixel density comes second only to the iPhone’s pixel density of >300ppi but the iPhone has a screen way smaller than the Note. The Note’s screen is also very sharp and bright and it is just beautiful to look at.

Design. This phone is a big phone. And i mean BIG! The size of the device (dimensions: 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm) does not fit into all pockets. The device is big but it is very slim. Overall, the device looked good and classy. It also feels expensive with nice built, Gorilla glass front and plastic back.

Performance and User interface. The Galaxy Note comes with Android Gingerbread with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI version 4.0. Personally i think the HTC Sense is superior to the TouchWiz but with such large screen, everything is nice! LOL. The performance of the device is quite smooth but I encounter lag sometimes which is such turn off with a Dual-core 1.4GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 1GB of RAM. One of my favorite games on mobile is the Fruit Ninja, and very sad to say, the game lags in the Galaxy Note. But overall, the performance of the device is pretty good. And with the S-pen and S Memo app, it is really fun in taking notes, drawing stuffs, cropping pictures and etc. Although at times the application will crash. >.<

Camera. Galaxy Note have an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2MP secondary camera. The primary camera also shoots 1080p videos with 30fps (frame per second). There are some sample photos taken using the Samsung Galaxy Note. I would say that the camera takes good picture. It is not the best but the quality of the photos taken are more to the good side. Take a look at these shots taken using the Galaxy Note.

Others. There are other things about Galaxy Note which are worth mentioning in this quick review such as the battery life. It has a Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery which give you up to 13hours of talk time. I am quite impressed with how long the battery lasts even with a screen that big. But don’t get me wrong, the battery still does not take you anywhere more than a day. Other stuffs such as the S-pen and the S Memo app is really fun to use (if you don’t lose your S-pen). Another cool thing about the Note is that while playing a video, you can just place your palm over the screen and the video will pause. Once you lift up your palm, the video will continue the playback. This is handy when you always have friends bothering you when you are watching a video, just place your palm on the screen, shoo away your friend and continue watching the video without missing anything. I like it. 2GB memory card included on top of the 16GB internal memory. Memory expendable to 32GB.

Conclusion. The only drawbacks of this device is the size of it (which some can also consider it as a good thing) and the once in a while lag. If you can live with that, the Samsung Galaxy Note is certainly one of the most powerful and promising smartphone in the market today. Ofcourse, it comes with a really beautiful screen and the S-pen. I would say that the device is one of the best from Samsung, apart from the flagship Galaxy SII.

For more information on the device, please write on the comment section. Thanks.

There is a office app called Polaris Office which is just great to be used on the Galaxy Note. Review on the app is coming soon.

iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS available contract free for the first time in Malaysia

Previously, if you want to own a iPhone in Malaysia, you will have to be tied on contract to Maxis, Digi or Celcom. Or you can get it contract free from unofficial sources which is usually very expensive(iPhone4 costs around RM2800-3200 contract free, ridiculous!).

But that has changed, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS is available on Apple Malaysia website to be purchased. Contract free. And kinda affordable. The iPhone 4(8GB) will be available in Black and White for RM1799(free shipping) and the iPhone 3GS(8GB) will be RM1199 available only in Black. Excited? Click on this link to bring you right to the site which you can place BUY NOW! Personally, I think the iPhone 3GS is well worth the price. It is still a very decent smartphone I would say.

For those who are more keen on the iPhone 4S, we will have to wait lasted until the end of the year to find out if the iPhone 4S will be available contract free also.
