Facebook just announced the App Center, a place for discovering and installing social apps/games that tie into Facebook’s developer platform. Apps offered in the App Center will be available on the web and mobile, including Android and iOS devices.

If you think Facebook is trying to take on Apple and Google’s storefronts directly, fret not. The App Center will be part of the official Facebook application and send mobile users to their respective storefronts, whether it be Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

Facebook Introduces Its Own App Store For Web And Android, iOS Devices

From Facebook’s official blog:

Today, we’re announcing the App Center, a new place for people to find social apps. The App Center gives developers an additional way to grow their apps and creates opportunities for more types of apps to be successful.

In the coming weeks, people will be able to access the App Center on the web and in the iOS and Android Facebook apps. All canvas, mobile and web apps that follow the guidelines can be listed. All developers should start preparing today to make sure their app is included for the launch.

Developers who get their apps ready for Facebook’s App Center by May 18th will have a better chance of getting in when the store launches on an unspecified date. Paid apps are supported, and each app in the App Center will need to use the official Facebook login. Developers can find more information on Facebook’s developer website.

How to Upload Photos Directly to Facebook in iOS [Tips]

Ever want to upload your beautifully taken pictures directly to Facebook from your Camera Roll album in your iPhone?

A native picture-uploading app has been debuted in Cydia, the jailbreak app store, which uploads pictures from your Camera Roll to Facebook with just a few taps.

It’s called FBuploader, and it’s executed so beautifully that it looks like it’s been there all along.

Besides the fact that the upload button says “FaceBook,” that is.

The tweak is available in Cydia for $1.99.

Ordinarily, you’d have to go into the Facebook app, pick an album, tap the camera button, import a photo from your camera roll, type a description, and wait for the oft-buggy uploader to finish.

Blackberry users, Windows Phone 7 users and WebOS users have had Facebook integration and photo uploads for a couple years now, and there has been a lot of speculation that Facebook would be integrated with iOS. We shall wait for that day! Until then, this is simply magnificent.

Sony SmartWatch: Simply a smarter watch [CES 2012]

Sony does not only unveiled all the Xperias on the CES 2012. There is another device/gadget alot smaller than any Xperias which is the Sony SmartWatch just unveiled by Sony. At the first glance, the SmartWatch looks like a iPod Nano mockup which takes the role of a watch also. But the SmartWatch has much more in its sleeve. The watch is clipable and detachable from the watch strap which comes in several color options. It also have the capabilities to connect to your Android phone via Bluetooth and act as a notifier, music player as well as answering calls and check on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. It has a capacitive touchscreen and goes well with any Sony phone running Android 2.1 and above.

Will you need one of these? or will you want one of these?

The SmartWatch will be prices around $149 which is around RM450. Not too expensive. What do yo think? Maybe if your a using a hideous Sony phone and you are shy to show it off to people, the Smart Watch is a great buy!

Facebook to kill off Apple App Store using HTML5 with Project Spartan!

Facebook is currently working on a project called Project Spartan which aims to have their own “app store” in a mobile platform aiming at the iPhones!
a.k.a a web-based app store!

The best part of it is that it will not be distributed through the Apple App Store and it will be entirely HTML5 running on mobile browsers. This is because by doing that, Facebook will have control over it and Apple will not!
Currently there are many developers working on it and it is on the verge of launching!!

A very bold and smart move by Facebook but we will see if this will be successful or not! I think it will be successful but Apple App Store will be standing strong too! What do you think?
